Wednesday 10/14/09

IN CLASS:
Hour 2--Way too many students in this class are not doing their work. I am disappointed and frustrated with their serious lack of effort. If your child is in 2nd hour, please help them, no push them to get their work done. Click here to download the work that was due today. If they don't perform, I can't assess. If I can't assess, then I have no way of knowing what they have or have not learned. Today in class, after I got over my frustration at the abysmal number of students who had completed the homework, students completed Critical Response #3 (click here to download instructions for CR #3). Then they got the packet for vocab unit 4.

Hours 5--Today in class students completed Critical Response #3 (click here to download instructions for CR #3). Then they got the packet for vocab unit 4. Students in 5th hour mostly had their work completed which made me very, very happy.

Hour 6--Because yesterday we didn't do it, today we looked at examples of student work from Critical Response #2. After that, students received their work back. Then we worked on Critical Response #3. (click here to download instructions for CR #3)

Hours 7, 8--Today we had better luck with the computers. Some students have made a lot of progress, others not so much. I am going to try to get another day in the lab, but I can't make any promises. Students should definitely use the long weekend to get some work done. I led them through the intro and first body paragraphs. They need to finish up the other body paragraphs. We'll talk conclusion on Monday. Here are some files they might need to help them with their work:
ASSIGNMENT:
  • Hours 2, 5, 6--Finish reading Touching Spirit Bear by Monday. Yes, there will be a quiz.
  • Hours 7, 8--Finish up your essay. For help, see the files listed above. We'll work on the conclusion on Monday.
