Today we began with root words:
- PYRO=fire (pyromaniac, pyrotechnics)
- IGNIS=fire (igneous, ignite)
- VULCANUS=Vulcan, the Roman god of fire (volcano, volcanic)
- HYDROS=water (hydrant, hydrate)
- AQUA=water (aquarium, aquamarine, aquatennial)
- BONUS=good (bon jour, bounty, bueno)
After root words, we did some thinking about journal writing, why people write, and where their writing comes from. We talked about what makes journal writing easy and what makes it hard. We then started writing in journals. Students are able to write about whatever they choose.
