Thursday 2/11/10

IN CLASS:
Today we did a number of things to move us along in the Champion Projects. We did a brief review on the Parts of an Essay (Introduction, Body Paragraphs, & Concluding Paragraphs). Then we brainstormed a list of topics that could be used for the topics of the three body paragraphs in the essay. Here are some suggestions from classes today:
  • Background/family/childhood
  • Goals
  • Career
  • Rise to fame
  • Struggles/challenges/obstacles
  • Accomplishments
  • Ways they helped others
  • Legacy
  • Life after fame
By tomorrow, students should have selected the three topics they will focus on in their essay. Next, I showed students how to share their note cards with me. In the bibliography page of NoodleTools, click on SHARE just beneath the citations tool bar. Then enter your name, select your class, and click share. This creates an open line of communication between my account and yours. This will need to be done before you can earn credit for your research work. Finally, I passed out vocab packets for week 10 in hours 2, 5, 6, and we went down to the lab to share note cards and collect some more information.

Note: Hour 2 did not get time in the lab because the server was down. Instead, we began mapping out introduction paragraphs and writing thesis statements.

ASSIGNMENT:
  • Select three topics for body paragraphs
  • Share note cards
**Hour 2 ONLY: Finish writing introduction paragraph
