IN CLASS:
Today we finished talking about the MCA practice test from yesterday. Then we moved on to the topic of poetry. Students were asked to answer and reflect on the questions below:

1. What is poetry?
2. Why do you like/dislike poetry?
3. What are some types of poems you know? (Hours 7, 8 only)
4. Where do you find, see, or hear poetry?
5. What are some poems or poets you know?
6. List 3 adjectives (5 for hours 7, 8) that describe poetry.

If you missed class, please answer the questions above in complete sentences and submit the assignment when you return to class. Last, I explained the assignment. For the Favorite Poems Worksheet.

• Part 1: Your task is to find three people who have a favorite poem. You need to write down their name, the title and author of the poem, and a brief explanation of why they like the poem so much.
• Part 2: Find one of the poems recommended above as a favorite. You may use books or internet (see me if you need a pass to the media center). Bring the book, print a copy from the internet, or as neatly as you can, hand-write the entire poem on the back of this page copying the format EXACTLY. Be prepared to share the poem in class on Monday.

Extra credit will be given to students who present the poem FROM MEMORY.
